To Parents, Teachers and Educators of the Bible,
who are looking for something new and exciting for their students!
It's a well known fact that
computers are a way of life. They are here to stay. While
I'm not an advocate of allowing children to spend hours and hours on them
for entertainment ... they are used for that regardless. So, why not
try to make use of some of that time.
As a parent, grandparent and teacher I've tried to find
ways of making better use of computer time for learning more about God and
His scriptures. There is much in the way of lessons for adults and
adult classes, but I could find little in what I wanted for my youth
classes. I wanted something simple and capable
of being used not only by the parent/teacher, but by the kids themselves.
I wanted to be able to use it with a
computer in a class room, a computer lab or with the family computer
at home. A laptop adds even more flexibility by allowing children to
learn while traveling. If you use your laptop to watch movies on while
on vacation ... you can use these beautiful flash presentations just as well
and have some diversity for them.
It is ideal for home schooling the
Bible as well as teaching in a church class room or with a youth group if
you have access to one or more computers for their use.
If you have sight impaired students
this is an excellent way to get them up close and into the scriptures ...
almost literally.
Why don't they remember?
Simply, their attention was not
focused on the lesson. It is well known that their attention
span is short anyway. Therefore it is much more interesting to poke
their neighbor than listen to the teacher read a story and never mind that
it is a Bible story.
Question: What's the most
embarrassing situation
for a teacher?
Answer: When dad or mom asks the
student about what they learned in class today and
their reply is an "I don't know," or
they ignore the question entirely. The parent then looks to the
teacher for the answer and as a volunteer you may wonder why you are
even bothering. Been there, done that!

Find out how you can get them to participate in class.
Don't leave them sitting there with
a blank look on their face. Give them a "grown up job" and
watch their body language. See their pleasure when the job is
accomplished. There will be added love in your heart when th is
success in a lesson learned.
What is a favorite thing kids like to do?
There isn't a child out there who
doesn't like to press a button. When you add a series of
illustrations, the curiosity will be there to see what is next. How
many infant toys are built with the button principal? After all how
many BCRs and TV buttons are pushed by toddlers just because the buttons are
there and at their level? Buttons just need to be pushed --- with or
without extra stimulation.
Now hold on to that thought please.
Give them access to a computer with the ever present
mouse, a keyboard and a Bible story in Flash format and you have a

The Bible Story Presentation varies
from 60 to 70 slides
in length and may be divided into more than one lesson or session.
