Meet Jolene Griffith - Wife, mother, student and writer.
Jolene is also BSFK's Featured Writers Editor.
Greetings,
Most of my adult life was spent
cocooned in a laboratory. But I was my happiest when dragging
data from instrumentation that would tell all about the sample I
just ran. Yeah, I was one dweeb, a nerd who loved scientific
research.
Sundays found me teaching my daughter's Sunday
School Class and I loved doing that, too. I never forgot about
teaching youngsters and the love God has for them.
Then the unthinkable happened and
I was struck with multiple sclerosis. Within a few years, I
found myself disabled and torn away from the thing I thought I
loved most. God whispered in my ear, "Return to your first
love." He redeemed my life with a love I would never have
imagined -- writing about Him for children.
I tried submitting my stories and
articles to all the children's magazines, but the rejections
piled up. Then I latched onto Bible Fiction. Now I could
immerse myself in God's word while simultaneously writing
stories that were true, with characters and dialogue that were
possible -- even modernly vernacular.
While I'm freshest writing children's
sports stories, (I'm a retired softball and basketball player --
before the WNBA) writing inspirational stories about Bible
heroes lights my fire today.
I'm a living testament to God's redeeming love, and although my
writing hasn't found itself on the best seller's list, I'm happy
to contribute to the Lord's best seller, for His best, our
children.
In His service,
Jolene |
